The Passion façade and towers of the Sagrada Família seen from a busy street corner in the Eixample

Take the metro to Sagrada Família station, on lines L2 (purple) and L5 (blue): the exits come up beside the basilica. Individual visitors enter on the Nativity façade, on Carrer de la Marina (official access information, checked November 2026). Buses 19, 33, 34, D50, H10 and B24 also stop nearby.

In short

  • Metro: Sagrada Família station, lines L2 (purple) and L5 (blue).
  • Bus: 19, 33, 34, D50, H10 and B24.
  • Entrance: the general entrance on the Nativity façade, on Carrer de la Marina.
  • On foot: about 25 minutes from Passeig de Gràcia, 30–35 from Plaça de Catalunya.

By metro

The easiest way. Sagrada Família station is served by:

  • L2 (purple), which also stops at Passeig de Gràcia (for Casa Batlló) and Universitat.
  • L5 (blue), which also stops at Diagonal (for Casa Milà, La Pedrera) and Sants Estació (the main train station).

When you come up, look for the towers: the Nativity façade, with the visitor entrance, faces Carrer de la Marina and the small park of Plaça de Gaudí with its pond. The Passion façade faces the other side, on Carrer de Sardenya and Plaça de la Sagrada Família.

By bus

City buses 19, 33, 34, D50, H10 and B24 stop around the basilica. The hop-on hop-off tourist buses also have a Sagrada Família stop. Buses are slower than the metro in traffic but handy from neighbourhoods the metro doesn’t reach directly.

On foot

The Sagrada Família sits in the Eixample district, on the grid of wide streets laid out in the 19th century, so walking is easy and flat:

  • From Passeig de Gràcia / Casa Batlló: about 25 minutes.
  • From Plaça de Catalunya: about 2.5 km, 30–35 minutes.
  • From the Gothic Quarter and Barcelona Cathedral: about 40 minutes; the metro is quicker.

Avinguda de Gaudí, a pedestrian avenue lined with cafés, links the basilica to the Hospital de Sant Pau in about 10 minutes.

From the airport and the station

  • From the airport: the Aerobús to Plaça de Catalunya, then the metro (L3 to Diagonal and change to L5, or walk to Passeig de Gràcia for L2). Allow about an hour.
  • From Sants Estació: metro L5 direct to Sagrada Família.

Remember there are no lockers for suitcases at the basilica: drop your luggage first. See dress code and rules.

By taxi or car

A taxi can drop you on Carrer de la Marina by the entrance. Driving is not worth it: parking is scarce and expensive, and the streets around the basilica are busy with tour coaches.
